Sleep disorders are a fairly common thing. While some people are up and about sleepwalking through their home or backyard, others have the tendency to have full on conversations about, well.. Nothing. Or everything, depending on how you want to see it.
Adam Rosenberg, a filmmaker and editor, has been told by numerous people that he says some of the most random, strange, and just downright weird things as he sleeps. So, he did what anyone would do in his situation: use a microphone to listen to what he has to say when he’s in dreamland.
Using a Zoom H4n audio recorder that he mounted over his bed, Adam recorded some of the strangest things he’s ever said during his sleep over the course of a year and put them into a video for us to enjoy. While the footage of him sleeping with a mic over his face is just a reenactment (who sleeps with their hands grasping the edge of the sheets?), the audio and transcription that follow are very real.
Dubbed “somniloquy” by doctors, this phenomena is described as a type of abnormal sleeping behavior. Sometimes it is linked to one’s dreams, other times it’s not at all. They’re not entirely sure how or why it happens and it’s been witnessed during numerous different stages of sleep.
The only thing that’s certain is that it gives us a quick glimpse into the deep psyche of whoever’s doing the talking. So, get ready to experience a wide range of emotions as you listen to Adam’s psyche speaking for him when his conscious self has checked out.
Are you someone who talks in their sleep? Give it a shot and you might discover something about yourself that you never knew. Or, you might just learn that your psyche loves speaking gibberish.
