5 Lonely Moments That Will Happen in Everyone's Lifetime

You build a solid relationship with a close friend, never really noticing how quickly time is passing by the two of you, until *poof* they’re gone, and you’re not sure where they went.

Growing up on this planet is hard. There’s no instruction manual, so we’re pretty much left to our own devices when it comes to major success or falling flat on our faces. Also, no one tells you just how hard it’s going to be, because, how can they? Everyone’s life is unique.

That being said, there are numerous experiences that will cause us extreme loneliness, and they’ll happen to almost all of us at least once.

This has happened on more than one occasion for me. You build a solid relationship with a close friend, never really noticing how quickly time is passing by the two of you, until *poof* they’re gone, and you’re not sure where they went. Maybe they had to move because of a job or due to family, but they’re gone and you’re not quite sure what happened to them.

Uprooting your life and moving to a new area

Moving to a new city or town where you don’t know anyone is one of the hardest and loneliest things anyone will ever do. New friends, new partners, new jobs, new everything. Ironically enough, this might be why most people never move away from their roots. A large number of people pass away just 60 miles from where they were born, having never lived anywhere else.

Losing a loved one

Death is the age-old problem that humanity has been trying to solve since we could fathom the notion. Watching a loved one perish is one of the hardest things a person will ever do. There will always be an emptiness left behind by that person. You can’t just call or text them whenever you want now, you can’t just invite them over for dinner, and you can’t just see how they’re doing. They’re just gone.

This can happen to anyone in any social circle, be it at work, at home, or with your family and friends. It’s very demeaning and hurtful when people you think care about you can’t even give you the time of day. You feel disrespected like your ideas and thoughts don’t matter. You feel lonely.

When your partner leaves you

Having a lover or partner up and leave you for any reason can be a traumatic and lonely time. The hurt is amplified if they’ve left you for another person, getting on with their life in a manner that not only doesn’t involve you, but with someone who has replaced you. Know that there is someone out there better for you anyway. Things fall apart so better things can come together.
